Seattle Mariners annihilate Texas Rangers 21-8 – MLB Update
Seattle Mariners looked in commanding form as they annihilated Texas Rangers 21-8 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, May 30 in the decisive finale of their of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Mariners butchered the Rangers’ pitching attack on Wednesday evening in a game that proved to be completely one sided at the end. Credit must be given to the offence for manipulating the conditions.
Miguel Olivo had an RBI single in the second to score the first run for the Mariners. Dust Ackley made the most of on hand opportunities as he hit a three run home run to dent Rangers’ confidence levels.
Kyle Seager also played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game with four hits and two RBI’s. Jesus Montero also homered and he drove in four hits to get back into form. However, the star of the show was Justin Smoak who hit two three run home runs
to stun the Rangers.
Rangers’ starting pitcher Derek Holland had a horrible time on the mound as he gave up eight runs on eight hits with two walks.
"We were hitting with a lot of confidence up there tonight," said Seager.
"Obviously these guys really put it together here the last couple of nights," Seattle manager Eric Wedge said. "You're seeing a lot of what we've been talking about in regard to potential with these young players."
"It's really upsetting to have something like that happen to you when you've been working so hard," said Holland, who paid the ultimate price for his errors in the second inning.
"I did not give my team a chance to win," he further added. "It's a big letdown on my part."
The victory was a huge one for the Mariners who have struggled to give results on regular basis since the start of the season. Texas had the better of their opponents in the opening game with an impressive 4-2 win. But since then Seattle have raised their
game play to an extremely higher level, taking complete advantage of Rangers’ Ballpark conditions.
