Seattle Mariners going ahead with proposal of new arena – MLB News
While the Seattle Mariners continue to dedicate extraordinary amount of attention and energy to form a strong 40-man roster, the club on Thursday, February 16, came up with approval of the proposal involving a new $500 million arena in Seattle.
However, the club chose to remain a bit discreet about speaking in detail about it, until of course, the fans give their insight about it.
"We aren't familiar with the details, but are ready to participate in the public process to make this a 'win' for the fans and to realize the many potential benefits for the region. It is too early for us to make any further comments."
As the reports surfaced, Hansen will invest $290 million on it with other money, which is around $200 million coming from the city and county financing.
The press release in this regard that came on Thursday expressed excitement about it, citing the benefit it will have for both fans and the community.
"The Seattle Mariners are excited about this afternoon's announcement and the possibility of having NBA and NHL teams coming to the Seattle area," the team said in a release. "From our perspective, it is all about the fans and the community.”
Envisioned to provide facilities to both National Basketball Association and National Hockey League, this is a project that will undoubtedly attract much appreciation and fascination in and around Seattle. The plan is said to be the brainchild of private
investment group and carries the endorsement of Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and King County Executive Dow Constantine.
As to what the project eventually comes to is something that cannot be predicted with certitude now. However, what is increasingly clear is that it is excitement that has enveloped the atmosphere after the announcement and the approval of the proposal.
Fans will definitely like to have the vast joy of hosting the team at their new home ground. It will be interesting to see how this proposal for a new arena fairs for the Mariners, as the team is focused on putting in a good performance during the upcoming
Spring Training session.
