Seattle Mariners’ left-fielder Ichiro Suzuki on rotation block – MLB News
The Seattle Mariners’ talented left-fielder Ichiro Suzuki is ready if his team decides to rotate his position. Lately some reports have come-out in the media as the Mariners’ manager Eric Wedge is taking some steps forward to rotate some of his players’ positions next season in order to achieve positive results for the franchise.
Initially the Mariners’ long time left-fielder, Suzuki has also mentioned in the media and to some extent explained this late situation. Ichiro has said through interpreter Antony Suzuki and explained the situation, “It's too early. We just went through our first workout. But I can say this. I'm always prepared for a new challenge, and that's how we all have to move forward. If that's the case, we're just out there to perform as baseball players and go all out."
Later, GM Wedge said, "I think it's tough to change your hitting style just because you're in a different spot, So it's difficult to say if my hitting style will change, because it's not easy as a player to change just because you're all the sudden hitting somewhere else. I haven't had that discussion with him."
According to experts, here both are right. Ichiro is right on his perspective as it is too early to say anything. The next season is approaching fast and during the season can anyone judge the real situation. On the other hand, Wedge is also somewhat right on his stance as no hitter can attain his previous game after changing to another position.
On contrary to both sides’ thoughts, one can assume that it is certainly a difficult situation when one individual being asked to change his playing position on a bigger prospective to achieve good results for the franchise. The team might have secured rather a decent position on their future standings but on the whole that should not be a rush decision.
In the meanwhile, this is also to understand as Mariners were not influential last season and now looking ways to make a positive beginning next season. And if this late strategy of changing Ichiro’s position does work out, the results will be overwhelming for them.
