Seattle Mariners lose to Los Angeles Angels 0-3 – MLB Recap
The Seattle Mariners lost to Los Angeles Angels 0-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 24 at Safeco Field, Seattle in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Mariners were literally outplayed by the Angels offence. Not only the Angels strong batting lineup clicked, but their pitchers also played well and earned a great win for their team.
On the other hand, the Mariners were bit shy to face the combined offence of the Angels as they never even showed a fighting spirit in the game.
They not only disappointed with bat, but their pitchers also could not stop the Angels hitters who kept their lead in all nine inning and rattled their opponents in the end.
This year’s new induction, Albert Pujols hit another homer and contributed his part in the Angels victory.
"He makes good hitters look pretty bad, including myself, he has in the past," Pujols said. "He is pretty amazing when he keeps the ball down. This game comes and goes. I think the main thing is to be positive all the time and continue to make sure to make good adjustments, Today I swung the bat pretty well, but tomorrow is a new day; you have to try to be consistent."
Starter Dan Haren also played well and pitched great nine innings in which he finished with no score and only four hits.
"Even pitching at 80 percent, I should get better results than I have been getting in prior starts. I forgot what it felt like." Haren said.
From start until it was over in the favour of the Angels, the Mariners never tried to bounce back and left with no options, but to allow their opponents to take the game away.
The Angels with this win, certainly improved their current standing as now they stand at .457 winning percentage along with 21- 25 win loss record.
On the other hand, the Mariners have yet to pick up the pace as they are down in fourth position in the American League West Division with .447 winning percentage.
