Seattle Mariners not interested to sign Josh Hamilton – MLB Update
Despite a poor 2012 Major League Baseball season, Seattle Mariners still do not want any ambitious changes in the roster for the 2013 season.
Earlier news came out in the media that the Mariners received slight pressure to install some more fire power from the free agency market.
However, the front office wants to rely on their current roster and objectively defends that the Mariners' current payroll must not reach to a certain amount which will automatically give them insignificant headache meeting overall franchise’s expenses.
Mariners’ general manager Jack Zduriencik is also supporting this fact that his team his alright at the moment. To perform well in the coming season, they do not want any imports from the league instead; their current roster will feel its responsibility and will show its best abilities next season.
Recently another rumour picked the heat as Mariners are showing interest to sign free agent Josh Hamilton. However, the Mariners' top manager Jack Zduriencik denied all these rumours and explained in the media with quite detail.
“You have to be realistic about how you're going to allocate your dollars, Some of these things drag out and if you're sitting there waiting on one chip, other chips in front of you might go away you end up with nothing," Zduriencik said on free agent’s arrival in the league.
He added with more detail, "There are a lot of great things to like about several of these guys on the market, we're doing our homework, But when you hear what players expect and the years involved, that's a lot to consider. At the of the day, when you gauge the market, you have to be realistic about where it will end up.”
This is a fact that Hamilton is a good player and as a free agent, he is getting extra attention this offseason.
He finished this past season with Texas Rangers and achieved .285 hitting average along with 43 homers, 128 RBIs and .354 OBP.
Hamilton is five-year Major League veteran and possesses career .304 hitting average along with 161 home-runs, 553 RBIs and .363 OBP.
