Seattle Mariners’ shortstop Munenori Kawasaki ready to perform – MLB News
The Seattle Mariners have got all the flavours to stun their rivals during the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. The eight-time All-Star shortstop from Japan, Munenori Kawasaki, is all set to do a good turn to the Mariners after being signed on
to the team
Brendan Ryan, the experienced shortstop of the team, said on Wednesday, February 15, that Munenori Kawasaki has got a lot of energy and his being with the team this time round will be fun.
"He's got a lot of energy," Mariners’ shortstop Brendan Ryan said. "This could be a lot of fun."
Brendan, who has got a career average of .256 in 538 games, made the observation after he had a practicing session with the young Japanese player.
Having won two Golden Glove Awards in 2004 and 2006, Kawasaki was the 2004 Stolen Base Champion. Although he is indeed a bit late to get exposure in Major League Baseball, as he is 30-years-old, his career average speaks volumes of the potential he holds.
With the batting average of .294, the player has 369 RBIs to his credit, hitting a total of 27 home-runs.
Now that he has signed a Minor League deal with the Seattle Mariners with an invitation to Spring Training, the team manager Eric Wedge stated that the team is still getting to know the player.
"We're still getting to know him and he's still getting to know us and his teammates, but you love people enjoying the game," Wedge said. "He loves to be out there, very similar to a Brendan Ryan and the energy he brings and how he enjoys being out there.
I don't know who is going to get the last word in edge-wise between those two guys, but it'll be a lot of fun to watch."
As mentioned earlier, the Japanese shortstop is in the possession of tremendous talent and skill to quite possibly help the Mariners this season. As the regular season approaches, the Seattle Mariners now seem more excited to go after their rivals with thoroughly
committed and talented players. It will be exciting to what type of impact Kawasaki has for the Mariners during Spring Training.
