Seattle Mariners win fourth-straight beating Los Angeles Angels 10-5 – MLB Update
Gabe Gross and Alex Liddi hit home-runs to lead the Seattle Mariners to their fourth consecutive victory in a 10-5 win over division rivals Los Angeles Angels’ split-squad in Cactus League game on Thursday, March 10 at Peoria Sports Complex.
The 22-year-old right-handed third baseman Liddi became prominent third time in spring, when he caught hold of a pitch to smash a gigantic home-run, his third in three days, after an unaccompanied blast on Tuesday. The fabulous presentation made him the
team leader with eight RBIs and .364 averages this spring. After entertaining show off, he talked to reporter in clubhouse at Peoria Sports Complex. He briefly discussed his strategy in game.
"I heard the fans saying 'Do it again,' but I was just trying to do something over second base to get two runs in with the bases loaded," Liddi said. "What happened, I wasn't trying to do. I still need to get better and work on some things. I feel good but
I'm not there yet."
Non-roster Gross repeated the record hammering high home-run off Ryan Chaffee, who was liable for all seven runs in fifth inning.
Left-handed pitcher Erik Bedard maintained remarkable presentation allowing just one run on three hits, striking-out two in just over two innings. He was out of the Major League last season, due to a shoulder surgery. It was the first run allowed by Erik
as he did not permit a sprint in three scoreless innings this spring.
"It wasn't as good as the other [starts] but that's what spring training's for," Bedard said. "Results are second and arm is first. When it feels good, it's a positive."
Angels could not show their best in batting as they managed to earn only one homer, posted by Kevin Richardson to Justin Miller, who pitched only one inning striking-out one. Centre-fielder Peter Bourjos was successful in making two RBIs on three hits. Right-fielder
Reggie Willits, infielder Chris Petite, catcher Hank Cogner and second baseman Gil Velazquez made one run each to put up five accumulated runs.
Angel Diaz and Braun were exceptional pitchers for the Angels as they did not allow any run and struck-out two each. The starting pitcher Matt Palmer was relatively good as he allowed two runs on five hits and struck-out two in just over two innings.
Angels will play their next game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, March 11. Dan Haren will probably face Diamondbacks’ Fausto Carmona.
The Mariners will face the Cleveland Indians in their next competition on Friday, with the scheduled Michael Pineda against the Indians Mitch Talbot.
