Seattle Seahawks’ Greg Scruggs ‘well on the road to recovery’ – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks’ seventh-round pick in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, Greg Scruggs, has said that he is recovering well from a turf-toe injury he suffered during his college days.
The injury also created plenty of obstacles when it came to developing good draft projections for the player and many teams did not go after him apparently because of the injury scare.
Seahawks, too, were a little bit cautious, but they had done their homework and wanted to have the player in their squad.
As a result, they sent their defensive line coach, Todd Wash, to Louisville to monitor Scruggs’ performance.
The player impressed Wash and despite playing his last college season with the turf-toe, he was able to attract Wash’s attention.
Wash immediately gave green signal to the management and the Seahawks ended up drafting him.
Scruggs is still recovering from the injury and despite not being hundred percent at the moment he did well to gain confidence from the coaches during the three-day minicamp for rookies.
He admitted that there were some concerns regarding his ability to play with the injury, but his confidence superseded them all. He said:
“Obviously there was a lot of concern with my toe during the draft and in and around the draft, so to be able to come out here and show people that it’s not a problem, it’s not a risk and there are no worries has been good. I’m well on the road to recovery
and I’m staying on top of it to make sure that it doesn’t come back or happen again.”
Unfortunately, Scruggs was unable to play well in the last season and he was disappointed for not living up to the expectations of his coaches.
However, he feels that getting over with that failure is the best medicine that could help him concentrate on his future with the Seahawks.
While admitting that the last season was not as good as he had expected, Scruggs said:
“But you can’t look back. It’s water under the bridge now. You look back and learn and think about things you could have done differently, how you could have prepared differently and things like that.”
