Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Flynn and WR Doug Baldwin training together – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks will open their training camp on July 27 and the players are not bound to train at the moment. They are allowed to take rest and head to the camp fresh and healthy.
However, two Seahawks players who are trying to make a name are still training hard and interestingly, they are doing it together.
Quarterback Matt Flynn, who has joined the team this offseason, has played as backup throughout his National Football League (NFL) career.
Before joining the Seahawks, he played for the Green Bay Packers as Aaron Rodgers' backup and his role with the Seahawks is not confirmed yet. Although some analysts believe that he will start Week 1 game, an official version is yet to come in this regard.
Flynn is competing with the incumbent Tarvaris Jackson while rookie Russell Wilson has also joined the competition.
As for Baldwin, he is seeking an increased role with the team. He had a record-breaking season last year. He signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted rookie and led the team in every major receiving category in the 2011 season.
Baldwin played 16 games last season and started only one.
Both Flynn and Baldwin are working out together these days in Pensacola, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
Meanwhile, Baldwin is enjoying this offseason as he is able to train properly this time. Owing to the lockout, he was unable to train last year. He said:
“Last year, because of the (NFL) lockout, I was doing my own thing, working out by myself, trying to keep a positive mentality about the situation.”
He added:
“Now it’s already kind of been established. I have an offensive playbook that I can continue to learn and prepare on, and I know there are guys I’m going to be playing with that I can work out with and talk to and build a relationship and chemistry with. The whole situation is different, easier — now I have a goal, something to focus on.”
Flynn has been practising with Baldwin for just two months, but the quarterback is very impressed with the receiver. Flynn said of Baldwin:
“I can already see how he’s a special player and will be around for a long time.”
