Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson appreciates his San Francisco 49ers counterpart Colin Kaepernick
Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson is making long strides in his first National Football League (NFL) season, but he is not the only youngster who is shining bright this year.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is playing his second season (first season as starter), is performing equally well.
Both these National Football Conference (NFC) West quarterbacks are going to face each other during Week 16 game this weekend.
Wilson, who has turned things around for the Seahawks, after leading the offence to a few thundering performances, especially in the last two games, is gearing up for a tough challenge against the 49ers.
Apart from facing a tough challenge from the 49ers offence, Wilson’s team will also face threat from Colin, who is coming off a four-touchdown game against New England Patriots.
Wilson has appreciated Colin’s performance, and said of his 49ers’ counterpart, via 49ers’ website:
“He’s done a tremendous job. He’s got a great arm and he’s a great quarterback. He’s got so much poise and I have so much respect for what he’s doing right now and how he’s playing. He’s got great ability and seems to be a great leader as well.”
Wilson has taken a pretty modest approach as he is praising other quarterbacks without bragging about his own performance, something that many players in the league do.
In 14 games this season, Wilson has completed a total of 222 passes of 353 attempts for 2,697 yards while scoring 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of Wilson:
“Sometimes you say, ‘We’re not surprised, we’re just thrilled with his progress.’ But it is surprising that he’s so comfortable with gameplans and the ability to adjust one week to the next.”
The Seahawks head coach added:
“Of course he’s great at doing his homework, but he also shows a real flexibility and he’s not stuck on anything.”
Wilson was selected by the Seahawks in third round of the 2012 draft. The Seahawks have preferred him over quarterback Matt Flynn, who joined the Seahawks prior to this season after parting ways with the Green Bay Packers.
