Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate ignores criticism, hopes to move forwards – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks got victory in their Week 3 game thanks to their wide receiver Golden Tate’s final action that was so much controversial that it spoiled their win.
Tate caught a touchdown pass in the final few seconds of the game to win it, but replays of his final move showed that he had pushed a defender while attempting to catch the ball.
Since Tate caught the ball along with another defender the play was reviewed. However, the refs failed to call pass interference, which was later endorsed by the league office as well.
The move resulted in Seahawks’ win, but the player was criticised by many fans and players. However, the player is trying to ignore the criticism he has been facing since he caught the ball and now wants to move forward.
Tate has also admitted that the score was controversial, but he has categorically denied that impression that he deliberately cheated.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Tate said:
“I wasn’t trying to cheat. I was competing. I was in the moment. Things were happening so quick, I honestly didn’t even know if I did. I didn’t try to push him down to the ground, but it happened. It was so quick. It was a reaction kind of thing.”
Seahawks (2-1) are on a two-game winning streak and will face St. Louis Rams in Week 4 game, hoping to stretch the streak to three games.
Tate is focusing on the next game while trying to bury the past. He said:
“I’m just trying to move forward. I’m worried about the St. Louis Rams at this point. Whatever happened in the past is in the past. There’s nothing we can really do about it. So I’m trying to give myself the best chance to help this team this week.”
Meanwhile, the player has also said that he has no control over what others say about his action and that he would not get caught up in it because it could affect his performance in Week 4 game.
Moreover, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has also encouraged the player to move forward and keep his focus on performing well against Rams.
