Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice focusing on game after shoulder surgeries – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice had an injury-riddled season last year as he had to play most part of the season through injuries before being forced out of the field.
However, the player has taken this offseason time to nurse his injuries and as he is still rehabbing, Rice is keeping his focus entirely on the game.
In January this year, Rice underwent a surgery and then had to undergo another procedure about after six weeks to treat another shoulder injury.
He said of the medical procedures on his shoulders:
"A lot of slipping out and popping out of place.”
After successfully undergoing the surgeries, Rice now thinks that he has got brand new shoulders. He said:
“Right now, they’re supposed to be brand new shoulders, and we'll take it from here. Right now I've got to regain my strength in my shoulders and get ready for the season."
Rice started his professional National Football League (NFL) career with Minnesota Vikings in 2007.
In his first two seasons, he did not get plenty of playing time. In his rookie season, Rice started four games while playing 13 in which he recorded a total of 396 receiving yards on 31 receptions and scored four touchdowns.
In the 2008 season, he started three games while playing 13 in which he registered a total of 141 receiving yards on 15 receptions and scored four touchdowns.
In the 2009 season, he got his lucky break and performed so well that he was also selected for the Pro Bowl squad.
In that season, he started 14 games while playing 16 and recorded a total of 1,312 yards on 83 receptions and scored eight touchdowns.
Rice only played six games while starting five in the 2010 season which proved to be his last with the Vikings.
Last year when he was playing for the Seahawks for the first time, he played and started nine games in which he recorded a total of 484 yards on 32 receptions for two touchdowns.
After giving a spectacular show in the 2009 season, Rice has struggled to live up to the expectations and he hopes to be at his best in the upcoming season and record better statistics in 2012.
