Seattle Seahawks confident of defeating St. Louis Rams – NFL Preview
Brimming with confidence, Seattle Seahawks are set to face St. Louis Rams for Week 4 game on Sunday, September 30, at Edward Jones Dome.
Seahawks look to further strengthen their position in National Football Conference (NFC) West after fortunately getting victory in Week 3 game against Green Bay Packers, taking their total number of wins to two after three games.
Seahawks have a very aggressive and strong defensive unit that can prove fatal for Rams this Sunday. Even Packers faced some serious challenge while attempting to beat Seahawks defence.
Rams, who badly struggled on offence in their last game against Chicago Bears, must watch out for Seahawks defence if they want to have any chance of winning against them.
Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who has been sacked 12 times just in the first three games of the season, might struggle a lot against Seahawks if protection around him is not sufficient.
After being defeated in the season opener against Arizona Cardinals, Seahawks have won their next two games, defeating quarterback Tony Romo-led Dallas Cowboys and recently Packers.
Both Cowboys and Packers are good teams as far as offence is concerned, but both struggled to generate scoring drives against Seahawks. This creates more troubles for Rams, who have only won one game in the season so far.
Bradford said of Seahawks defence:
“You look at what they’ve done this year, especially the past two weeks playing Dallas and Green Bay who both have really good offences. They’ve done a very good job of shutting people down. They’re big and physical up front. They’ve got a lot of speed in
the back end. It’s definitely going to be probably one of our biggest challenges of the year.”
At the moment, Rams are at the bottom of NFC West, falling behind Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Seahawks. Rams defence might get some support if their first-round pick of this year draft defensive tackle Michael Brockers plays the game.
Brockers has not played any game this season owing to an injury, but he practised this week with the team, giving strong impression that he could be part of the squad on Sunday.
His addition will be beneficial for Rams, who have to make sure that their offence and defence complement each other against Seahawks.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said of Brockers:
“If he’s back and able to play, he would have an impact on our front from a pass rush standpoint and as a run defender. Now he’s, obviously, clearly behind because he has missed some valuable time but he’s very talented.”
Seahawks clearly have an edge in this game, but they have to be cautious about a couple of things. First, it is Rams’ home game and, second, regular referees are back!
