Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner’s suspension starts from Week 14 game – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner will not play next four games due to his suspension.
Browner violated the National Football League’s (NFL) policy for performance enhancing drugs and was tested positive for taking Adderall.
In his first interview after getting the suspension, Browner said that he had taken Adderall mistakenly. He did not appeal against the suspension.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was disappointed with Browner’s suspension and said:
"I've been disappointed about the whole situation, that it is something that he had to deal with it and we had to deal with it, but there is nothing we can do at this point,"
Cornerback Walter Thurmond, who was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft by Seahawks, will replace Browner for the next four games.
Thurmond started a few games last season but did not play until the end due to his injured ankle.
Carroll said of Thurmond:
"He's an excellent athlete. He played very well for us this last week and he'll step right up into that mode."
According to Thurmond, he is being patient, working on his techniques and trying to make progress in his performance which is getting better each week.
Meanwhile, cornerback Marcus Trufant, who missed the last game against Chicago Bears due to hamstring injury, will not be available for the next game against their National Football Conference (NFC) West rivals Arizona Cardinals.
Rookie Jeremy Lane will get a chance to play as a cornerback in the next game. He has played as a member of special teams this season.
Carroll believes that it is time for the young players to play along with the experienced players and give the best results.
He added:
"We have some concern about it, but I also know we have forced them to compete with our best guys throughout the time and we're always anticipating with the younger guys that they are going to have to play, so they're ready to go,"
Seahawks have won seven and lost five games, and they are standing a step behind San Francisco 49ers, who are leading the division.
