Seattle Seahawks decline to feature on HBO's 'Hard Knocks' - NFL News
HBO and the National Football League (NFL) Films division are facing increasing problems to nail a franchise willing to open up its training camp for the shooting of HBO’s reality football show “Hard Knocks”.
With a multitude of potential teams refusing to entertain the offer another has joined the burgeoning ranks as on Wednesday, Seattle Seahawks general manager, John Schneider, told ProFootballTalk Live that HBO had approached the franchise to talk about their
interest in featuring them for the latest season but the Seahawks refused the offer.
This puts the Seahawks with other teams such as Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins who have all refused to consider featuring in the popular show.
The show’s Twitter feed posted.
“Seahawks G.M. John Schneider says on PFT Live that the team was asked about interest in Hard Knocks and Seahawks declined.”
The arrival of quarterback, Matt Flynn from Green Bay Packers has increased competition for the starting quarterback position as head coach, Pete Carroll, is looking forward to competition between Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.
That competition in training camp between Flynn and Jackson would have been the highlight for the show if the Seahawks had agreed to being featured on the show.
With the Seahawks bowing out all eyes will once again turn to the New York Jets.
Even though head coach, Rex Ryan, and general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, have said that they will concentrate on football during training camp and reduce distractions they are still not out of the running to be featured on the show.
Franchise owner, Woody Johnson, in a previous interview had stated that he would consider the offer if it came in.
The Jets were the last team to feature on the show in 2010 and that year saw the show gain its highest ratings in history.
There were no episodes of the show last year due to the NFL lockout.
It remains to be seen which franchise will agree to feature on the show this year and HBO will have to work fast as time is running out with the training camps coming closer with each passing day.
