Seattle Seahawks’ defensive tackle, Red Bryant, ambitious after getting new contract – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks’ defensive tackle, Red Bryant, who has just received a new lucrative five-year contract with the team, has adopted a rather ambitious approach while discussing his future prospects, saying he wants to be remembered as one of the greatest
players in the history of the franchise.
Bryant started his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2008 with the Seahawks. Although he did not get enough playing time in his first two seasons, he earned the status of regular starter from his third season.
In 2010, when he played as starter for the first time, his season was cut short by an injury. He played and started seven games in that season and registered a total of 18 tackles and 1.0 sack.
Last year, he was brilliant. He played and started all games and did not get injured. In 16 games of the regular season, he made a total of 32 tackles and 1.0 sack. He also recorded two interceptions.
After the season, his rookie contract expired with the team and he became a free agent.
Interestingly, he was able to attract attention from the New England Patriots, who had lost the Super Bowl XLVI matchup against the New York Giants.
However, Seahawks brought him back to Seattle on a lucrative deal, ensuring his stay in Seattle for a long period of time.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Bryant said of getting the contract and his future plans:
“I have bigger expectations than just a contract. I definitely want to be a guy when my playing days are over with and they think about the Seahawks, they think about big Red Bryant.”
Bryant also shared his thoughts on Patriots showing interest in him. He said:
“I was actually surprised when the Patriots were making a push for me, given their track record in terms of everything that franchise stands for. Coach (Bill) Belichick, he’s arguably one of the great coaches. So for him to pursue me, it made me feel even
more confident in my abilities and what I bring to the table.”
Bryant is feeling confident, but the fans will not be pleased until the Seahawks qualify for the playoffs in the upcoming season.
