Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll: Attitude was not an issue for Terrell Owens – NFL News
Even though wide receiver Terrell Owens has now been cut by the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Pete Carroll still believes that Owens was one of the most disciplined guys in the camp.
This stance came at a time when Owens is looking towards a possible end to his professional career. As of now, no team has shown interest in signing the 38-year-old veteran.
Talking to the reporters on Monday, August 27, 2012, Carroll said:
"Anybody that thinks he had an attitude around here or something like that got in the way is wrong. They don't know what they're talking about. This guy was great. He did everything we wanted him to do. He practiced hard, he studied hard, he asked questions,
he worked hard in the games. He did everything. He was terrific."
Coach Carroll’s kind remarks will not change the fact that only a few days are left before the start of the season and almost all of the teams have made up their minds about their final roster.
For Owens, it makes the possibility of getting a position on the roster of any other team more difficult.
The good news for Owens is that Seahawks have not yet totally closed the window of hope for him. During the talk, Carroll did say that he would be more than willing to acquire services of Owens again whenever needed during the season. Carroll said:
"He's got the competitive makeup to do it, he's physically beautifully fit for a guy of his years, and I'll be surprised if he doesn't wind up in somebody's camp and playing for somebody."
With all the affection Carroll has for Owens, the question still remains that Owens was unable to show the class needed to play in the league.
Owens missed many opportunities during the Seahawks’ preseason games. He dropped a lot of catches, while his counterpart Braylon Edwards showed improved performance.
There are many doubts on Owens’ ability to play in the league as he has not played a regular season game since November 2010. He had an injury-ravaged 2011 season, failing to play even a single game.
