Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll believes two-quarterback saga has affected New York Jets – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll reiterated what he had previously said in the offseason that the combination of quarterback Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez would put up a bad impression on the output of New York Jets.
Carroll gave his opinion about the issue again while talking to ESPN on Monday, November 12, 2012, and said that adding a dynamic quarterback Tebow is negatively influencing performance of starting quarterback Sanchez.
It is justifiable for Carroll to comment on Sanchez’s performance as he had the hands-on experience of dealing with the player while he was the coach of USC. Talking about Sanchez, Carroll said:
"I think he's in a very difficult situation. The whole emphasis of the two-quarterback thing is really hard. You saw it (Sunday). It didn't get much for them. It's got to be a little bit disruptive. I feel for him. It's just a distraction.”
Sanchez has been struggling to get consistency in his form ever since the start of the season.
The quarterback’s lack of focus was visible in the Jets’ 7-28 beating by Seahawks in Week 10 last Sunday.
Sanchez was taken off the field to give opportunity to Tebow in that game after which he looked very frustrated on the sidelines. Carroll carried on and said:
"This whole factor has been really hard on him, I'm sure that it's been confusing to their fans. That part at home has got to be hard. I don't know this because I haven't seen a game there but I think they're hard on him at the stadium, too. So, it's as
hard as it can get."
Tebow has spent most of his playing time working through his wildcat package and has not been able to get much success.
Jets would have to designate a particular role for Tebow. The team is currently at last place in the American Football Conference (AFC) East with a 3-6 record.
If things continue to go the same way, it could result in some major reshuffling on the roster as well as coaching staff next year.
