Seattle Seahawks hoping to finish the season on positive note – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks’ defeat at the hands of San Francisco 49ers on the Christmas Eve eliminated them from the playoff-race. The loss was disappointing, but the Seahawks do not want the gloomy mood to take its toll. They have one more game left in the regular
season and they want to win it and mark the end on a positive note.
The Seahawks are going to take on Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Both the teams have won seven games and lost eight apiece this season and got defeated in their respective last games.
The winner will finish 8-8, and Coach Pete Carroll made it clear on Monday that the only agenda his team will carry in the game is to win it.
“There’s no hesitation. There’s no other agenda at all other than to win the football game,” he said. “This would be great to get to 8-8 and leave them out of it. That would be great to do that.
“They want the same thing. So it’s an important deal, yeah. Everybody would like to finish on a positive note,” the coach added.
The coach was of the view that both the teams would want to finish 8-8, and that’s why, he said, the competition would be tough and the game would be more exciting.
The Seahawks, which are ranked second in the National Football Conference West division, could have been playing for a playoff-spot had they won against the 49ers.
They were ahead at the start, but surrendered later as the opponents began progressing. Until the halftime, the Seahawks had the lead, but the second half belonged totally to the 49ers, which eventually won the game with a difference of only two points between
the teams.
Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson thinks that his team missed many opportunities against the 49ers. He urged his teammates to learn from their mistakes and said that they have to make important plays when required.
“We had plenty of opportunities to win the game but we didn’t make those plays when it came down to it, and obviously we have to make those plays,” Jackson said.
Meanwhile, defensive lineman Red Bryant has also echoed the same sentiments and said that the 49ers were more focused than his team. He also said that he had learnt from the 49ers to make important plays when necessary.
Heading to play against the Cardinals, which are ranked below them in the division, the Seahawks are desperate to end the season with a win and carry the momentum forward.
