Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson hopes to improve – NFL News
After a bit shaky start to his National Football League (NFL) career against Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson hopes to improve his performance and prove his worth in Week 2 game as Seahawks host Dallas Cowboys.
Wilson, who won the starting quarterback competition after leaving behind former Green Bay Packers QB Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson, who was traded by Seahawks this offseason, performed well during the preseason, but failed to deliver good performance
in the regular season opener.
Against Cardinals, Wilson missed nearly half of his passes as he went for 18 of 34 for 153 yards while throwing one touchdown and an interception. This was not what the Seahawks had expected. However, since it was his first appearance the team is willing
to give him some time to adjust.
Wilson himself is aware of what is expected of him and is working hard to improve his performance in the next game. According to the details present on the team’s website, Wilson said about last game:
“I think the biggest thing is it was my first experience. It was a joy to be out there.”
Talking about the next games of the season, the rookie quarterback said:
“Obviously, you want to win the game, and that’s all I care about no matter what the situation is. More than anything, we all have to communicate better and it all starts with me. I’ve just got to make sure everybody’s on the same page; I think that’s the
biggest thing. And once you go out there, just play ball. That’s the biggest focus for us this week.”
Even though the Seahawks lost their first game and Wilson was unable to perform well, the Cowboys know that the rookie is able to display game-winning performances. The rookie also got praise from Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, who said of Wilson:
“He is a rookie but he doesn’t play like a rookie. He plays very maturely.”
Against the Cowboys, who are coming off a victory against New York Giants, the Seahawks offence needs to do a lot better. If they fail to do so, the Cowboys might take the game away.
