Seattle Seahawks sign Deuce Lutui, Barrett Ruud and Roy Lewis – NFL News
The defensive unit of Seattle Seahawks has received a great strength as the team has signed guard, Deuce Lutui, linebacker, Barrett Ruud, and cornerback, Roy Lewis.
Lutui started his professional National Football League (NFL) season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2006. In his rookie year, he played 15 games while staring nine.
However, he gained the status of a regular starter in his second year with the Cards and has been playing as a starter since 2007.
However, he did not start any game in the last season in which Cardinals were not able to qualify for the playoffs and they had to end their campaign with the end of the regular season.
Seahawks already have a couple on starters on the injured reserve and addition of Lutui will certainly help the side during the offseason and preseason training.
On the other hand, Ruud has joined Seahawks after parting ways with Tennessee Titans. He started his professional NFL career in 2005 with Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He spent six years with the Bucs, who gave him the status of a regular starter in his third year. He joined Titans in 2011 and played and started nine games with them while recording 57 tackles and one interception.
Ruud received a season-ending injury in December and he was unable to play the rest of the games for Titans.
Meanwhile, the third signing has come as the Seahawks join hands with Roy Lewis, who has already played for them.
Lewis started his professional NFL career with in 2008 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him as an undrafted free agent. He played only one game with Steelers in his rookie year and was released by the team in the next year in which he could only
participate in the team’s preseason activities.
After being released, he was claimed off waivers by the Seahawks in 2009 in which he only played three games with the team.
In this second year with the Seahawks, he played 14 games, but did not start any. Last year, he only started one game while playing 10 and recorded 24 tackles and 0.5 sack.
With the fresh signings, Seahawks are assumed to have been working well to strengthen their defence. However, it is the on-field performance that matters the most and Seahawks have to prove their mettle on the field.
