Seattle Sounders Make a Last Minute Win Against Chicago Fire (Part 3)
When questioned about his expressions regarding him being contesting his former club Seattle Sounders, Ljungberg delivered kind of an emotional message and said that, “Obviously it is very special for me to come back to his former city and club, as I have a special relationship with the people of Seattle. The fans here are also amazing”.
He admitted that the match results distraught him while the core reason for Fire’s defeat was marking. The results were also demoralizing due to the fact that they had played so well throughout the match but the whole game just turned on them in the last few moments. He added that the team felt that they had played well and had more possession than the Sounders.
“It was only one missed ball and a long pass but before they knew it they were down a point and right after that referee blew the whistle signaling the end of match.” He stated. Ljungberg worked hard and gave in his best to make his team score and go forward in the playoffs but it was evident from the general play that he needs to get used to his new environment.
Ljungberg commented on the matter by saying that normally it takes a lot of time before players get used to their new teams but the Chicago Fire’s squad has been absolutely brilliant with him. He said that Carlos keeps the ball on the ground and is very adamant with his play, and that it is an easy system to get used to.
The Fire’s coach in his comments said that his team played really well but still it was a shame the way they lost. The Seattle Sounders now have thirty two points and are fourth in the MLS running.
