Seattle Storm’s Lauren Jackson out for at least three weeks with a left hip injury-WNBA Update

Seattle Storm is in the start of the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) season 2011, but they are going to have to fight without one of their top player in near future.
Seattle are going to hold out centre forward Lauren Jackson for at least three weeks as she tries to recover from hip injury. The Seattle management announced on Friday that the medical reports of the 30-year-old showed a labral
tear in her left hip. Considering the delicate nature of the injury, the doctors have suggested Jackson to take full rest for a minimum of 21 days.
Storm coach Brian Agler showed her deep concern over the injury of her main player and said, "This injury is often treated effectively with rest and physical therapy.” “We are going to rest Lauren for a week before increasing her
activity level. At this point, we expect her to be out for a minimum of three weeks.”
The 6 feet 6 Australian player got hurt because of her unintentional collision with teammate Liz Cambage in the first half of the Storm’s 82-77 victory over the Tulsa Shock on Tuesday night at BOK Center. The three-time league’s
Most Valuable Player left the game in severe pain with 5:50 remaining in the second quarter and did not return in the second half. Prior to injury, she had scored just four points for the eventual winners. Jackson was not available for a comment on her injury
on Wednesday.
Jackson, who helped Storm to last season's WNBA Championship, missed Friday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx. However, the Seattle did not seem bothered at all by her absence as they cruised past Minnesota 65-55 at Key Arena.
Forward Le'coe Willingham started in place of Jackson and ended with a game-high 16 points and five rebounds.
It is expected that Jackson could return to the line-up after three weeks rest but the worst part is that if the recovery does not go well, she might have to end up with a surgery. Surgery would definitely leave the defending champions
in a tough spot as it could take Jackson 12 more weeks to recover.
