Seattle area -- safe neighborhoods -- Kitsap?

Are Port Orchard and Silverdale good areas to live in? I'm wondering because the rent is so much cheaper there when I look online at apartments. I think they have a lot of military there. Why is Poulsbo so expensive? It's right by it.

yes, good areas to live and yes there is alot of military mostly because of Bremerton/Navy. Any neighborhood has crime but after 20+ years in washington state I recall alot more seattle area crime stories than silverdale. I've never lived over there but have known people who have/do. Poulsbo is a touristy area plus the ferry access is right there. Kitsap area is cheaper than seattle metro because you give up some of the major city convenience and the military presence in an influence.

most of bremerton and silverdale are very safe to live in...from what i have noticed there is a tiny bit more crime in port orchard than bremerton/silverdale.  we live in east bremerton and it's safe enough that we walk at night and i even walk our dogs at night by myself...like at 1:00 in the morning and stuff.  i like it better over here because we dont have to deal with all the crazy traffic of seattle...we are close enough that we can get to seattle if we want too.  i wouldn't want to have to commute from here to seattle every day though...that would drive me crazy people do it though.

there is quite a bit of military here though...bremerton/bangor/navy hospital are all in this area.
