Sebastian Fernandez wins Arturo Calle Colombian Coffee Classic

Sebastian Fernandez carded a sparkling 15-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole in the playoffs, to clinch a victory at the Arturo Calle Colombian Coffee Classic Presentado por Avianca.
The tournament was being played at the Club Campestre de Cali, featuring some of the prominent names on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica.
As the game was suspended on day three, a number of players resumed their third rounds, early in the morning on Sunday.
Fernandez also finished his third-round campaign on day four, and carded a three-under par 68 to get into contention for the top spot.
He then posted a one-under par 70, in the final round, to register a nine-under par tournament score.
Later in the day, Jose Manuel Garrido forced the game to enter into the sudden-death playoffs, after he joined Fernandez on top of the leaderboard.
On the first extra hole, Garrido recorded a par putt and waited for Fernandez to do the same. However, the Argentine stunned his rival by rolling the ball straight into the cup for a birdie.
"The key was patience because I was hitting it really well, but I wasn’t seeing the results, I thank God though because in the end I got the result I was looking for,” he said. "The truth is I played perfectly in the playoff. I knew if I hit the putted well
I would be good to go”.
At the end of the day, he pocketed US$ 22,500 as prize money, which moved him to the sixth place in the PGA Tour Latinoamerica Order of Merit.
Talking to the PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s official website, he stated that he never gave up working hard, even after performing poorly in the start of the 2012 golf season.
His hard work finally paid him off, when he became the oldest winner in the inaugural season of the tour.
"I'm flattered because it really isn’t easy to win on this Tour. There are many guys who play golf very well and I think there is a future in this amazing tour. I think the Tour is doing a spectacular job and each year will continue to grow”.
