The Bianconeri striker has stated that it will be strange without the Bianconeri manager on the bench, but has stressed that the team must continue to perform well despite the coach’s absence.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Giovinco-c32724 has stated that the absence of Antonio Conte from the Juventus bench will be a difficult experience for all the players, but has stressed that they cannot let the crisis affect their performances in the upcoming season.
The Bianconeri manager is facing trial for his alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal, in which he has been charged with the failure to report attempt of match-fixing.
The tactician earlier attempted a plea bargain for a three-month ban, which was rejected by the judges as insufficient.
The former Siena coach has now chosen to defend his innocence in the court, where failure could lead to a 15-month ban.
Giovinco insisted that the absence of Conte will be deeply felt, but stressed upon the importance for the players to keep performing at their best in order to sustain their performances of the last season.
The former Parma striker revealed that President Andrea Agnelli has also addressed the team, and urged them to not to lose their focus on the field of play.
While talking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old said:
“It is strange playing without Conte on the bench, but we have to be stronger than this and not use it as an alibi. The other day at the Vinovo training camp, President Andrea Agnelli told us to think about nothing except what happens on the pitch.”
Formica Atomica spent the last season with co-owners Parma, but Juventus acquired the full ownership of the player in the summer transfer window.
Giovinco admitted that playing for the Old Lady is a vastly different experience, and also stated that while he is happy with the number 12 jersey, he will be honoured to get the coveted number 10 shirt.
“Compared to the past, everything is different for me now, but I prefer to concentrate on the present. I wore the 12 jersey against Malaga and I like it, so it could be the definitive choice, but if Conte gives me the 10 then I’d be even happier.” He added.
