The former Parma centre-forward left the Bianconeri outfit two years back; however, he has stated that he has improved a great deal and has become a better player.
Unable to peg down a place in the first team meant that Giovinco was forced to look and develop his footballing skills elsewhere. At first he went out on a loan to the Gialloblu outfit, and after impressing the management, he was snapped up by Parma. The
club bought 50 per cent of the rights of the diminutive striker and the player flourished at the Tardini outfit, he ended up scoring 15 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for the Parma outfit.
If there was one criticism of the striker was the fact that he was not able to impose his presence in front of goal. His first season at Parma was not the most prolific one as well, as he managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions in the 30 Lega
appearances he made.
Thereby, when the former Empoli man reflects on his improvement as a player, there might be an element of truth in there. However, if he is to succeed at a club like Juventus, then he needs to drastically improve on those statistics.
There is a difference between a supporting striker and a striker, and Giovinco’s physique only allows him to play second fiddle to stronger and more intimidating opponents.
The Azzurri national went on to comment on his happiness at making it back to the Juventus Arena, and the striker went on to state that he has always wanted to play for the Bianconeri giants, and remarked:
“I wasn’t sure I would be back, I only had the hope. I am from Turin, Juventus is the team I started my career at. To wear this shirt again was my ambition. Now I am here.”
He went on to describe his journey over the past few seasons and mentioned:
“Three years ago I was in my early 20s, I wanted to prove myself, which is normal for any true player. They say I have succeeded in two seasons at Parma - they say with the performances, goals scored, the attention that Juve then had on me again.”
If the diminutive attacker is to impose himself regularly on the team then he needs to find his goal scoring boots soon enough.
