Sebastian Holmberg claims Men’s 100m IM title in Stockholm: 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals
Sebastian Holmberg outperformed his challengers during the initial evening session of the 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals, in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday, November 24. More importantly, Holmberg grabbed Men’s 100m Individual Medley crown in the puddle.
Sebastian Holmberg was battling against the strongest rivals of competitive swimming arena involving Daniel Lundahl and Anton Andersson in the final encounter, as Holmberg splashed hard and furious against his competitors throughout the race and won the
golden crown in the 100m Individual Medley race by banging the finishing divider in a winning mark of 54.31 seconds.
More importantly, Sebastian broke Erik Dorch’s previous best meet record of 54.74 seconds, set back in 2001. The swim also moved him to number 23 spot in the current ranking of world swimming. In the meantime, Daniel Lundahl earned silver title in the respective
splash by striking the finishing hurdle in an attention grabbing mark of 55.01 seconds. Finally, the bronze title was captured by Anton Andersson in a time of 56.14 seconds.
In addition, the Women’s 100m Individual Medley title was clinched by Sarah Granstrom in a victorious blot of 1 minute and 00.42 seconds. The effort moved her to thirteenth spot in the current rankings of international swimming. Meanwhile, Sara Thyden got
second position in the respective meet by claiming the finishing hurdle in a time of 1 minute and 00.88 seconds. The third place went to Louise Hansson in a time of 1 minute and 00.97 seconds for her 25th place in the international ranking.
Last, but not the least, Michelle Coleman claimed Women’s 100m back-stroke title in a nerve wrecking mark of 58.39 seconds. Her effort was ahead of Sarah Sjostrom’s previous best meet record of 58.83 seconds, set back in 2010. More importantly, Coleman switched
to number 14 spot in the international swimming ranking. Magdalena Kuras snatched silver medal in the respective meet by thrashing the finishing barricade in a time of 58.78 seconds, while Emma Svensson settled at third spot in a mark of 1 minute and 00.43
seconds.
