The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has put pen to paper on a one-year extension and will now stay at the club at least until next summer.
Borussia Dortmund skipper, Sebastian Kehl, has prolonged his stay at the Westfalenstadion by another year and has signed an extension to his current contract. The midfielder’s current contract with the club was set to expire at
the end of the season and there was widespread speculation regarding the player’s departure from the side he has served for almost 11 years.
Dortmund’s longest serving player insisted that it was a very easy decision for him to stay and admitted that he loves the club. The midfielder claimed that he loves being part of a side that has seen immense development in the
past few years and is confident that the Borussians will continue to improve.
Kehl expressed his delight on learning that he will stay at least one more year at the Signal Iduna Park and remained confident of the team’s title triumph this season. He hopes to end his career at the club and wants to add more
achievements to his career with the club.
“Borussia Dortmund are a very special club for me and my family. As the longest-serving player at the club, I enjoy being involved in the process of shaping and advancing BVB’s positive development,” the German international was
quoted as saying in an interview to the club’s official website.
On the other hand, manager, Jurgen Klopp, expressed his pleasure on keeping the player for another year. He insisted that Sebastian Kehl is a very important part of the team and his contributions in the past have been vital, which
is why it was important to ensure his stay.
“I’m very happy that the club and Sebastian reached an agreement. Right now we are seeing the best of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732 at BVB since I´ve come here,” Klopp added.
Sebastian Kehl has thus far made 199 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund in his 11 years at the club, finding the net on 18 occasions. The midfielder also has 31 international caps to his name, scoring three goals for
the country.
