The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has gone against his manager’s claims and is confident of retaining the Bundesliga crown.
With eight more games remaining in this season’s Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund seem favourites to defend their title despite Bayern’s consistent efforts to close the gap on the Borussians.
Dortmund skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732, has also expressed confidence in his team’s abilities and is sure of winning this season’s crown.
On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp has preferred to stay quiet over the title talk, admitting that Bayern also have a good chance. The former Mainz tactician has been modest despite enjoying a five-point lead atop the league standings.
Kehl believes that his boss has been extra cautious over this issue but it seems highly likely that Dortmund will come out on top. He was talking in the wake of his team’s slender 1-0 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday, March 17,
at the Signal Iduna Park. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 scored the only goal to help the Black Yellows strengthen their position atop the table.
While talking to reporters after the game, the 32-year-old further added:
"If we say now we aren't serious title contenders then we are just making ourselves look ridiculous. Please! With all modesty, we have 59 points. We are confident at the top and that is where we want to stay, of course."
Klopp mentioned that Dortmund were too lenient in front of the goal against the River Islanders which is a bit of concern. He advised his players to make full use of their opportunities in the future games else the lead could be
in danger considering Bayern’s stunning progress recently.
"We left the game open for too long, but we were very alive and super disciplined," Klopp concluded.
As a result of this win, Dortmund have extended their unbeaten record to 20 games which is a new club record. Their five point lead makes them favourites to retain their title but it is believed that their game against the Munich
giants on April 11 could be a decisive fixture in the title race.
The Borussians will next be in action against Greuther Furth on Tuesday, March 20, in the semi-final of the German Cup before travelling to Koln for their league fixture on Sunday, March 25.
