Sebastian Langeveld joins Green Edge as team is hopeful to get UCI Pro Tour license
Dutch professional cyclist Sebastian Langeveld who is currently with team Rabobank has signed Green Edge for the coming seasons as team believes that the youngster will strengthen their squad for the coming seasons.
Langeveld’s was declared as the best young rider at 2010 Tour du Limousin along with winning the GP Jef Scherens in 2009 but the biggest win of his career came at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad as he finished the race first in 5:18:03 with Juan Antonio at second
and Mathew Hayman at third position.
The Dutchman believes that joining the team Green Edge will further enhance his skills and will be a good learning phase in his career. He stated that, he had enjoyed the time spent with his current team Rabobank and is happy to accept the leadership role
in team Green Edge. He further added that racing the spring classics had always been his dream, Tour of Flanders in particular and by joining Green Edge he has given himself the best opportunity to live his dreams.
Team Green Edge who has shown interest in becoming the first Australian team to gain UCI Pro Tour license as it has already processed the first initial steps following the UCI procedure which states that teams must register through an official form and deadline
was August 15 as Shayne Bannan told the media, “We’re in discussion with the UCI about the process that has to be undertaken to achieve a Pro Tour license.”
Bannan further added that he is looking forward to build a strong team for spring classics as he commented about the inclusion of Sebastian in the team, “When you look through the list of young riders that are potential winners of races like Flanders or
Paris-Roubaix, Sebastian’s name is right up the top,” he further added. “He’s on the verge of the best part of his career with plenty of years in front of him.”
Team Green Edge who has to provide the contracts of 15 cyclists in front of UCI by October 20 is positive to become the first Australian team with the Pro Tour license.
