a total of 42 appearances in all competitions for Birmingham City and scored 11 goals before returning to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at the end of his loan move.
Lack of first team playing opportunities at Arsenal convinced the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 international to leave the London club in the summer transfer window. After his arrival at the Stadium of Light, Bendtner revealed that he did not plan on returning to the Emirates
Stadium even after his loan spell came to an end. Larsson revealed he was happy to reunite with Bendtner at Sunderland for the current season.
Larsson said in an interview:
“Obviously we had a very successful season together at Birmingham and Nicklas did very well.
He scored a lot of goals and was our main striker. I know how Nicklas plays and how he likes the ball and I think he knows how I deliver the ball.”
Larsson felt their time together at Birmingham City would help them adapt better at Sunderland. He revealed that they had done well to link up previously and hoped to do the same with the Black Cats. Despite all the criticism Bendtner has had to endure,
Larsson revealed he was a top striker and had proved he had the quality to become the first choice striker.
Larsson revealed:
“He probably felt it was his time to move on and enjoy his football somewhere else. I'm delighted he decided to come here because I think he can be a big player for us.”
Bendtner had complained he had not been happy at Arsenal, and has done much better since joining Sunderland under manager Steve Bruce. Larsson believed the move had been beneficial for both the striker and the clubs involved. He said he was certain Bendtner
would do better with more first team experience and Sunderland would definitely be happier with more goals.
He continued:
“But the only spell in his career when he played regularly was at Birmingham and he did fantastically well, so he'll benefit from being on the pitch more often than not."
