Sunderland winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Larsson-c32733 has claimed that the Black Cats are determined to continue on with their winning ways after defeating Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring in the 2-0 win on Sunday with a highly accurate free kick which ended up in the back of the oppositions net. This gives Sunderland a terrific record in their last five games, with four wins and one draw.
Larsson said in an interview:
“Football is a funny game. We seem to be doing things well at the moment and getting a little bit of luck when we need it.
We want to carry on doing it.”
Larsson, who was amongst previous boss Steve Bruce’s signings in the summer transfer window, revealed he was glad his side were doing well under new manager Martin O’Neill. He was hopeful they would continue with their fine form in the upcoming fixtures.
Meanwhile, youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-McClean-c17703 was also happy with the Black Cats current form. He admitted he was lucky to get a chance at first team football in the Premier League and thanked the Northern Irish giving him the opportunity to prove himself.
McClean said while speaking to reporters:
I'm just enjoying my football, the manager's given me a chance. I want to do well here.”
The manager also had nice things to say about the 22-year-old, who has improved since the departure of Steve Bruce. O’Neil revealed how it seemed like McClean had all the experience to play in the Premier League, despite only having played three games.
O’Neill commented:
“His ability, his willingness to work back and his all-round game you would think he had played 103 games not three games.”
The manager went on to talk about his side and their performance against Peterborough, which he didn’t think had been too impressive in the first half. However, he felt the Black Cats had more than made up for it in the second half.
O’Neill said:
“I thought that in the first half we allowed Peterborough to play in their own half and when they ventured into ours we closed down.
In the second half we closed down closer to their goal and became more effective.”
