Sunderland and Sweden winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Larsson-c32733 has revealed he expects England to have a defensive approach to the game, which would only benefit his side.
Under new England manager Roy Hodgson, England have a relatively younger and inexperienced side. While they were not expected to do well against France in their opening fixture, the Three Lions managed a 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
The 27-year-old noted that England had adopted a highly defensive approach against France, which he felt would back fire against his side. Larsson believed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 could get England on the counter-attack and possibly go on to secure a win in the fixture.
Larsson said in an interview:
“I don't know if I expect http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 to be extremely defensive or not. It is an important game for both teams. Both teams need the points. We know what we can do and if we play to our capabilities, we are capable of beating England.”
Though, the winger admitted his country had to improve if they wished to make it to the knock-out stages of the European competition. He revealed he felt the fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 had not been their best and that they could definitely do better.
However, with the game against England coming up, Larsson was positive about securing a decent result against the Three Lions. He personally felt strong and believed his side could go on to cause an upset against England in their second fixture of the European
tournament.
He revealed:
“The game against Ukraine was not one of my better ones and we did not reach the level we were looking for, not during the first half.
We didn't get into the game and it was hard. Personally I feel strong and eager to play a good game against England and that is the key thing.”
It did not bother Larsson too much that England had been labelled favourites going into the clash against Sweden. He felt that would only make the English overconfident, which would play in the hands of his side who could then go on to cause an upset and
hopefully make it through to the next round.
