Sebastian Macias ousts Ivan Leon in Men’s Singles qualifying round at XVII Peru International 2012
Peru’s Sebastian Macias proved his elevated skills when he defeated Ivan Leon of Chile in Men’s Singles qualifying round at XVII Peru International 2012 on Wednesday, April 11, in Peru.
The local shuttler cheered the home fans by playing to their maximum speed and registered an impressive victory over Leon who failed to match the speed of his opponent.
Macias did not take much time in beating his rival as he consumed just 22 minutes in the court to bag the contest in straight games with an impressive score on the board.
In the opening set, Macias showed his wonderful aggression by playing attacking badminton and dominated the pace of rallies with a surprising ease.
He was in full swing in the opening half of first set and managed an impressive lead on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Leon tried to cope up with the pace of his rival but failed to take any advantage as his local opponent was in complete control of rallies.
Macias continued his roller-coaster run in the concluding half of opening set and remained successful in bagging it with an impressive 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, both shuttlers played fast badminton in opening rallies but no one could take an early lead.
Leon was quicker this time as he took the bird early from all areas of the court and remained close to his in-form local opponent who was having the support of home fans.
Until the mid-game interval in the second set, Macias was moving slightly ahead of his opponent on the score board.
After the one-minute interval, Leon played quivering badminton as he could not control the pace of bird and also failed to execute strokes in the right areas.
On the other hand, Macias showed his elevated play in the concluding half of second set. He did not lose his focus and bagged the game with a three-point margin of 21-18.
Macias won this qualifying-round contest in straight games by taking just 22 minutes with a convincing 21-14 and 21-18 score on the board.
