Sebastian Vettel: Fernando Alonso happy with Ferrari, best of Schumacher still to come – Formula 1
Red Bull’s leading driver Sebastian Vettel thinks that the Spaniard Fernando Alonso did well to extend his contract with the Ferrari team until the 2016 Formula 1 season.
Vettel also said that the seven-time Formula 1 champion, Michael Schumacher is not finished yet and one special performance from him will change perceptions about him.
Talking about Fernando Alonso’s recent contract with the Ferrari team, Vettel congratulated the Spaniard and said, “From his point of view I would say that it was the exact right thing to do. Obviously he is feeling at home at Ferrari, and he had the opportunity
to extend.”
Talking about his personal interest in the Ferrari team, Vettel commented that he would be 30 years old before he can get his hands on a Ferrari car. The German, however, added that he is happy with the Red Bull team for now and will enjoy his term with
the beverage company.
Talking about Schumacher, Vettel stated, “Michael has not had the best GP in his career at the last race, this is for sure. But let’s assume he won the Spanish GP, and then we would not have any of these questions at the next race in Monaco.”
The youngest Formula 1 champion added that the German is the most experienced driver on the track in terms of race wins. However, because the media and Formula 1 pundits are writing him off early in the 2011 season, the seven-time world champion is the feeling
pressure, he said.
Furthermore, Vettel stated that his team will be bringing some updates for the Spanish Grand Prix which hopefully work well in the Free Practice sessions.
Vettel is leading the 2011 drivers’ table with 93 points including three race wins. His Australian teammate Mark Webber is currently third on the table with 55 points.
The Spanish Grand Prix Free Practice session starts Friday and Red Bull team will try to maximise their gap from the fast approaching McLaren-Mercedes’ duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
