Sebastian Vettel: Ferrari is a legend for him – Formula 1 News
Formula 1 Red Bull’s driver Sebastian Vettel has shared his feelings with the media and said that it is his wish to be a part of the Ferrari team in the future.
Sebastian also went on to mention that Ferrari is a ‘legend’ for him, as it is a very strong team of Formula 1.
At the start of 2011, there were the rumours about Vettel switching to Ferrari. However, some sources said that the strong team of Ferrari could select Vettel by replacing their driver Felipe Massa in the end of 2012. Meanwhile, Red Bull team has quickly
extended Vettel’s contract with the team until 2014, as they believe that the current world champion is very lucky for the team.
However, Vettel discussed this matter with the reporters and said, "Ferrari? If I talk about it so often, it's because I'm often asked about it. In fact, there are two reasons - first of all Ferrari is something special, as I've said many times. The second
reason is that I have to reply to whoever asks me about it. It's a self-feeding situation.”
He went on to add, “But that doesn't mean I want to go there now - I'm happy where I am and this is why I've renewed for a couple of seasons. We are a group and we are together and that is why I decided to stay and to extend my contract by a couple of years
more."
The 23-years-old driver had a very strong start to the 2011 Formula 1 season. He won both races, held in Australia and Malaysia. However, the team was very confident due to their driver’s excellent performance in the ongoing season.
With regards to Chinese Grand Prix, Vettel took part with hopes of winning the race again on the grid, but due to taking his early pit stop during the race, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton snatched the victory from Vettel and finished his race at the top of spot.
Vettel was not disappointed after finishing in second place at the Shanghai race, while he appreciated Lewis Hamilton’s strategy work applied during his brilliant performance.
A few days ago, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner discussed the qualifying round position. He added that pole position in qualifying will no longer be the key to success at certain Formula 1 race tracks, as those circuits have different corner layouts.
On the other hand, Red Bull’s second driver, Mark Webber finished his third fastest run in China behind his team-mate Vettel. Despite the Kinetic Energy Recovery System issue during the race, he continued his run with full aggression and dedication as he
posted his best run on the time-sheet.
The ongoing season is becoming tougher, as it is moving towards the challenging circuits of the 2011 race calendar. It will be interesting to see which team comes out on top at the up-coming Turkish Grand Prix scheduled for May 8.
