Sebastian Vettel: Kimi Raikkonen was very quick at 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus was very quick at 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix, held at Sakhir on Sunday.
Vettel finally took his first victory of this season in the fourth race and is now leading the drivers’ championship with 53 points. The double world champion was followed by Raikkonen and his teammate, Romain Grosjean who appeared to be quite competitive
on track throughout the race.
In addition, Vettel said that both the Lotus drivers were very fast while he said that he felt pressurised at times with Raikkonen and Grosjean on his back.
“It was an incredible race, extremely tough even though sometimes we had a decent gap,” Vettel said. “But still I think from the start; we had a very good start which was crucial. I was able to pull away immediately and pull away from the pack which turned
out to be a big advantage because we always had to go on a new set of tyres as we used nearly all of them yesterday in qualifying. We could see Kimi was getting through; he was very quick, so was Romain.”
Besides, the defending champion said that this year the competition is very tough amongst all the rivals as everyone seems to be well prepared.
Nevertheless, he praised his team for all the efforts which they have made over the course of the season so far. He also said that he feels extremely pleased with the performance of RB8.
Red Bull Racing won the championship title in the last two seasons out of which they completely dominated during the last year as Vettel took 11 victories out of 19 races.
Conversely, they have been seen struggling in finding out the true potential of their car and have been trying their best to enhance its performance so as to strike back in the championship. Nonetheless, their hard works have been proved out to be fruitful
as their Vettel won the race at Sakhir.
Above and beyond, after pocketing their first win, the defending champions are targeting to fight for the championship title in the races ahead.
