Sebastian Vettel: Red Bull have a master plan – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is positive that his team will be able to make the essential improvements in the car over just a few races ahead, after the 2012 Australian Grand Prix, while he warned McLaren that they have a ‘master plan’ for the
approaching season.
The two-time world champion, Vettel secured the second podium at the season opener and expressed that the winner, Jenson Button of McLaren had a more competent car.
“The car has huge potential and that gives us all a bold feeling,” Vettel was quoted by the official Formula 1 website. “But what this weekend also demonstrated is that we are not where we want to be - but we have a master plan.”
It would be important to mention that due to some upgrades in the car, Red Bull struggled during the last day of the final pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona in which Vettel could only be able to complete 23 laps and he came last on
the timesheets.
Besides, Vettel said that they remained behind McLaren during the qualifying on Saturday which was a total turnaround as compared to the preceding season.
In addition, he said that the performance deficiency at the first race could not be fixed too soon, however, he said that they had been able to get some valuable information about the car during the weekend which would surely prove out to be very helpful
in order to make the necessary developments and substantial preparations for the season ahead.
He added, “There is not that one single thing that you can switch on or off. This weekend made us understand the car much better - made us a bit wiser - and I hope we can profit from those insights. We leave Melbourne extremely motivated because we don't
like the taste of being walked over by McLaren!”
Furthermore, Button said that Red Bull had not been as strong as it seemed during the qualifying but they performed well at the race. He also said that the defending champions would come prepared in the next race at Malaysia. Nevertheless, he said that his
team would be there too, for the tussle.
