Sebastian Vettel – “The hyped up Red Bull squad needs to focus more”
The Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel believes that the upcoming season will be even tougher than the last one. He believes that the team will have to work harder than ever before and stay focused in order to defend both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’
title.
The 2011 Formula 1 season is expected to be the most exciting and thrilling one ever witnessed in 61-year history of the sport. This year’s calendar is longer than ever before, hosting a total of 20 races, while for the first time in 30 years five world
champions will compete at the same grid.
While talking to the media after the inauguration ceremony of the team’s new car, RB7 on Tuesday morning, the reigning World Champion said that the team needs to put in more effort than last year. The Austrian squad possessed the fastest car on the tracks
during the 2010 season, and both its drivers Vettel and Mark Webber were in great pace, but a few driving mistakes by both the drivers and some reliability issues with the car prevented the team from concluding the championship until the very end of the season.
Vettel believes that the next grid is quite demanding and a single mishap can cost the team its championships.
While talking to the media earlier today, the young German said, "We've a lot of testing ahead of us, a very long season, but we are all pumped and happy to go racing again. What we achieved makes us all very proud, and no-one can take it away from us, so
that's a huge plus. It will be a tough battle ahead, a long, hard fight. Motivation is not a problem, but we need to focus again."
Vettel came up with a spectacular performance during the 2010 season. With five race wins and ten pole positions, he broke the record of Lewis Hamilton as Vettel claimed the first championship of his career at the age of 23 years and 9 months, becoming the
youngest World Champion ever.
Now as he prepares for the upcoming season, he believes, “It is a difficult situation we're in, more difficult than last year when we said 'okay, let's just go for the title'. This year is a different story because we want to try and defend the titles, but
we have to develop from how we were last year otherwise we will be taking a step back and others will pass us.”
Vettel is quite hopeful of his team’s performance next year and believes that some mind blowing racing feats and smart strategies can help them retain their titles.
