Sebastian Vettel admires Michael Schumacher’s passion for racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has admired Michael Schumacher of Mercedes for his passion for racing after the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix.
Vettel set off from the 10th grid position and secured an incredible second podium finish behind Jenson Button who won the race after claiming the pole position. Meanwhile, Schumacher could only secure 13th grid slot. However, the seven-time
world champion performed impressively well and came 7th in the race.
The defending champion said that he didn’t understand why the record championship holder moved to the pits during their tussle in the race.
“With Michael, there was a bit of confusion, I think,” he said. “He probably wasn't that keen to defend his position because he was going into the pits anyway, [but] I thought he would block the inside and then he came on the outside, so it was very very
close under braking.”
However, the two-time champion praised the courage of his compatriot and said that the iconic Schumacher always fight for a competitive finish no matter where he races or with whom he races.
“It doesn't matter where you get Michael on the circuit, whether you're fighting for P1 or P15, he will fight like h**l, which is great to see," he insisted, "He hasn't lost it. It obviously makes it hard for you, but it's always a great challenge,” he added.
The most celebrated driver in the history of F1 has improved his position in the drivers’ championship and is presently standing at 10th place with 35 points along with Felipe Massa of Ferrari. Additionally, he is ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber
and is behind the Japanese driver’s teammate, Sergio Perez.
Even though, he struggled during the last couple of years after his return and was completely outclassed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg, nevertheless, he has made an inspiring mark in this season so far. He has shown some amazing performances in the qualifying
of many grands prix and has secured a podium finish in the European GP which is his best performance after his comeback until now.
Let’s see how the veteran German driver races in the season ahead.
