Sebastian Vettel admits beating Michael Schumacher’s records is very difficult – Formula 1 news
The current championship leader and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has recently stated that beating Michael Schumacher’s records is very difficult.
“I can rate many of Michael's seasons, obviously winning the title seven times. He had very good seasons, but he also had seasons where he was in a bit of trouble and came through it, making huge progress with the team and himself even though he didn't win
the Championship,” said Vettel.
Vettel has secured one championship in 2010 keeping in mind that he became the youngest champion in the history of the sport and this year, he is on a roll and has the capability to secure it this year as well.
He has been rated as one of the fastest drivers in Formula 1 and since he is dominating the sport, it seems that he has the capability to make it big and probably beat some records set by the champions from the past.
The person to score the most records in the sport is clearly Michael Schumacher who holds almost every big record of the sport including most championships, most wins and the list is endless.
“Everything he achieved is quite phenomenal. So the question is not if there will ever be a German achieving that again, the question is if there will ever again be a driver in Formula One achieving what he has done,” said the reigning world champion.
Other than that, he added that he is quite excited to drive at the Nurburgring circuit which is taking place as the German Grand Prix after 25 years. This means that this is going to be his and Schumacher’s home race as a result of which, both of the drivers
want to rule out as much mistakes as they can and secure the best possible results for their respective teams.
The 2010 Formula 1 world champion is currently leading the drivers’ standings by 204 points which means that he is currently 80 points ahead of his closest rival which is his teammate Mark Webber.
