Sebastian Vettel admits that Ferrari has taken a big step forward
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel recently admitted that Ferrari took a big leap forward at the British Grand Prix as a result of which he is hoping for a close competition at the German Grand Prix which is expected to take place at the legendary
Nurburgring circuit.
“I think Ferrari has taken a great step forward in the last couple of races and at Silverstone they were even, if not faster. We have to be realistic. It’s important to realize it and accept it,” said Vettel.
Fernando Alonso recently secured the first victory for the team at the British Grand Prix which took place at Silverstone and finished the race 16 seconds ahead of the two Red Bull Racing Team drivers.
RBR secured a 1-2 race start after a “lucky” run during the qualifying session of the British Grand Prix but still failed to take the win since Ferrari’s strategy was more superior.
Either way, the upcoming race is going to be very important for Sebastian Vettel especially as it is going to be his home race. Even though he is currently leading the 2011 Formula 1 season by 204 points which is 80 points more than his closest rival Mark
Webber, it seems that he is still longing for more dominance and he is hoping to make pack this year’s drivers’ standings way before the final quarter of the season.
One has to admit though that Ferrari is pretty much out of the constructors’ title battle as they are 164 points adrift of RBR and since Felipe Massa is struggling to perform once again this season, Ferrari’s chances of a good constructors’ performance this
year are quite bleak.
Alonso on the other hand is performing at his best once again and one has to admit that he is struggling to score consistent performances mainly due to the fact that he did not have a good car in the beginning of the season.
It is a completely different story now though as Ferrari is looking pretty fast and this weekend’s German Grand Prix is going to be quite interesting.
