Sebastian Vettel aims to maintain pace in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is aiming to maintain his pace in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Vettel showed an impressive pace in the qualifying of the European GP and secured the pole position. Afterwards, he remained dominant in the race as he had a lead of 20 seconds before the failure of his alternator which caused his retirement and the victory
was eventually claimed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Nevertheless, the defending champion has expressed that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the upcoming race and hopes to keep up his pace to attain better results.
“Well we hope so. I think Silverstone is a very different track in terms of speed range - Valencia is fairly low speed. Weather wise is going to be very different I think! I would be surprised if we have 30 degrees and sunshine in Silverstone, but why not?
Maybe the English summer is treating us differently this year! I think it will be interesting, as I said it's a very different track all in all,” said Vettel. “It's important for us to ideally confirm the results or confirm the feeling we had in Valencia -
but not the result!”
At present, the veteran German driver is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 85 points. Moreover, he is 10 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and 3 points behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
On the other hand, his teammate, Mark Webber performed quite convincingly and secured fourth place finish in the last race. Moreover, he has been one of most consistent drivers in this season and is currently at second place in the drivers’ rankings with
91 points.
Meanwhile, Red Bull are leading the constructors’ championship with 176 points and are 39 points ahead of their main rival, McLaren.
Over and above, they are trying their best to make the considerable preparations and the necessary advancements so as to improve the pace of RB8 for the forthcoming races in order to defend their championship title this year.
