Sebastian Vettel aims to win 2012 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is aiming to win 2012 Indian Grand Prix which is to be held at Buddh International Circuit on October 28, 2012.
Vettel is presently leading the drivers’ championship and is 6 points ahead of his main rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who had been at the top of the standings for most of the time in the season so far.
Moreover, he has become the most favourite title contender after scoring his third consecutive win in the Korean Grand Prix and is now looking forward to claim victory in the forthcoming race so as to increase his lead over the Spaniard.
The veteran German driver won the last year’s Indian GP and is confidently targeting to attain the same result next weekend.
The two-time world champion has said that he really loves the track of the upcoming race and asserted that it is the second quickest track in the calendar after Monza.
“I loved the track layout last year, but not just because I won the race,” said Vettel. “With an average speed of 235km/h, the course is the second quickest of the year after Monza.”
In addition, he said that the circuit of the approaching race is one of the most challenging tracks for the drivers and he is eagerly looking forward to attain competitive result there.
“There is a lot of elevation change around the lap which adds to the fun, from as much as eight per cent downhill and up to 10 per cent uphill; it's like a rollercoaster! It really has emerged as one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar for the
drivers,” he added.
Even though, he has not been able to dominate in the current season as compared to the last one in which he won 11 races, nevertheless, he has been considered as the most competent driver and has a strong chance of winning his third consecutive championship
title this year.
It will be interesting to see how he comes up in the remainder of the season and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
