Sebastian Vettel aims victory in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that his aim is to claim victory in the 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Vettel said that it has been quite an unpredictable season so far as there have been seven different winners in the first seven grands prix. However, the veteran German driver expressed that he is confidently looking forward to win in the approaching race.
“This season is crazy and it won't stop. But victory remains our aim,” Vettel said.
The defending champion showed an incredible pace in the European GP at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain as he claimed pole position and remained dominant in the race. He had 20-seconds lead when unfortunately his alternator failed and he was retired without
scoring any points.
Nevertheless, he asserted that he is not feeling disappointed and is focussing to make the best use of the present opportunities in the forthcoming races. In addition, he said that they need to perform with consistency so as to score some crucial points
in each and every race in order to make their position stronger in the fight for this year’s championship.
“We mustn't get frustrated. We have to pick ourselves up and focus on what's most important. We still have a lot more races to go and I am certain that we will be able to use any opportunity we get to win and score important points,” he said.
The two-time world champion is presently standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 85 points. Besides, he is 10 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and just 3 points behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
Furthermore, he said that they have planned to come up with some important updates in the upcoming race which will hopefully provide them a competitive edge over other contenders. Additionally, he said that they have got all what it takes to be the world
champion.
“We've proved that we and the car have great potential and that we can be really fast. We've made a big step in the right direction,” he said.
