Sebastian Vettel backs Paul di Resta
The 2010 Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel became the youngest champion in the history of the sport after a dramatic but exhilarating 2010 Formula 1 season. Sebastian has been in the sport since 2007 but raced for a full season in 2008 for the first
time for Toro Rosso. After his exceptional performance in the team, he was promoted to Red Bull Racing Team, a sister team of Toro Rosso as Red Bull handles both of the teams.
After 5 wins and 10 pole positions, Sebastian finally did it and secured the title after winning the very last race in Abu Dhabi where he snatched the drivers’ standings lead away from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
However, Sebastian also won the best driver of the year award at the Autosports awards and after attaining so much media support, he believes that this was just the beginning of something big for him.
Recently, the young German stated that he would like to see his former teammate and rival during his time in F3 Paul di Resta on the Formula 1 grid next year.
“I hope to see you in Formula One next year. Hopefully it will not be as tight as it was in F3!” said the recently crowned F1 champion.
Paul di Resta was the reserve/test driver for Force India. He won the F3 Euroseries title in 2006 by just 11 points from Sebastian Vettel who was his teammate back then.
“We have reached an agreement. The signature is a mere formality, which will happen. The drivers who do not have a contract yet want to join the team because it is the best team with an open place,” added Vettel.
However, Force India is yet to announce both of its drivers for the 2011 Formula 1 season. According to some rumours, Tonio Liuzzi was recently issued a contract but the team claims that nothing has been decided officially yet.
There are many rumours that Nico Hulkenberg is also negotiating with Force India and it is expected that the team might reveal its official drivers list by the end of January.
