Sebastian Vettel believes Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton are the best drivers – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that according to him Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren are the best drivers in 2012 Formula 1 season.
“It's very competitive, obviously, and there is a long list at the moment. If you look at this season we've had a lot of different winners and those drivers are very competitive and very fast, but the ones that stand out are Fernando - he's one of the most
complete drivers - and Lewis is very quick. Then there are plenty of others. Michael is still in the game, I don't think he has lost it. It's always depending on how well you do in combination with the package and the car and the team etcetera,” said Vettel.
Alonso is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 111 points and he is 20 points ahead of Vettel’s teammate, Mark Webber. Moreover, he has performed amazingly well in the season so far as he is the only driver who has claimed two race victories.
In addition, he has successfully limited the damage for his team which struggled throughout the pre-season testing programme and expected to face difficulties in the start of the season.
On the other hand, Hamilton has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season until now and is currently at third place in the drivers’ rankings with 88 points between Red Bull Racing pair of drivers.
Even though, he could not score even a single point in the last race as he had a collision with Pastor Maldonado of Williams. Nonetheless, he is still been deemed as one of the most favourite drivers in the title chase and is looking forward to perform well
in the forthcoming race.
At present, the defending champion is at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 85 points. Besides, he is 10 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and 3 points behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
