Sebastian Vettel believes most deserving driver will win the championship – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that the most deserving driver will win the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship but agreed that his position is stronger than his major contender, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Vettel struggled during the opening few races as the Milton Keynes based team faced difficulties in creating an understanding about their car’s design because of the amendments in the rules and regulations by FIA.
Nevertheless, he has performed amazingly well in the last few races and is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 255 points and has a 10 points lead over Alonso.
Moreover, he has now been considered as the strongest contender in the title chase and seems invincible with his fastest car.
On the other hand, the Spaniard has also performed incredibly well in the season so far and has attained competitive results even with an incompetent car. However, he has lost some crucial points in the championship battle because of his unfortunate retirement
in two races.
Even though, the defending champion has an advantage over the 31-year-old in the title fight, but nothing can be predicted about the last two races as the ongoing season has been full of surprises until now.
The veteran German driver has said that they struggled with some reliability issues in few races, but hopefully they have made their mark stronger in the championship with some essential developments.
“Of course the last races we had were very good for us, to put it mildly,” Vettel told the official Formula One website. “They have helped us a lot. If you look at the whole season with 20 races, you do have incidences that you don't like to have, you probably
have some retirements due to technical problems. We had those - and hopefully we have now passed this phase.”
In addition, he said that the most deserving candidate will claim the title in the end.
“I still believe that the driver who deserves it most will be champion,” he added.
Let’s see how the top two drivers compete in the final two rounds of the current season and who wins the championship title.
