Sebastian Vettel can surely win his third consecutive title in 2012 – Formula 1
Red Bull Racing driver, Sebastian Vettel is unquestionably one of the most competent drivers in 2012 Formula 1 World Championship and he surely has a strong chance to win his third consecutive title this year.
Vettel performed exceptionally well in the preceding season and won his second world championship title by claiming 11 grands prix victories. However, he has not been able to dominate in the current season as compared to the last one because the Milton Keynes
based team struggled with creating a thorough understanding about their car’s design and setup during the first few races.
Nevertheless, the veteran German driver has still performed tremendously well and has been deemed as a potential candidate in this year’s championship fight.
It will be important to note that the season so far has been full of surprises and no projections can be made about the remaining races as any driver in the top three positions can win the title in the end.
The defending champion has a tough match with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who has performed amazingly well in the season until now even with his uncompetitive car. Besides, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus have also been considered as
one of the most competitive title contenders.
Additionally, it is to be noted that Jenson Button of McLaren said that this year’s championship battle will be fought between the defending champion and the Spaniard.
“It's hard for anyone [to catch Alonso] except Seb at the moment,” Button was quoted by
BBC Sport. “It's between those two but there's still a lot of people with a long shot. That's what we're all going to go for.”
“It just shows one bad race makes a massive difference,” he added. “Fernando had his in Spa, Lewis had his in Spa and here, Seb had his at the last race. I had mine in the last race. When no-one has the consistency you can't close a big gap on someone. Seb
is only 29 points behind, that's a gap that's shrinking.”
It will be really interesting to see how the veteran German driver performs in the remaining races of this season and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
